I think routine is probably the most important aspect when it comes to meditation and seeing results. I know some techniques may be difficult for some people - go with what works, modify it to suit your needs..at the end meditation is not relegated to a cold hard science. What will make or break your practice is routine and forming habit - i know a lot of people start a practice and stop citing that they don't see any results - as with anything worthwhile it takes time but if you do it right each session of meditation will give you more encouragement to keep going.

I would say the first step of meditation is to sit in a comfortable position, and then bring your awareness to your body. I generally start by breathing and visualizing the breath filling my toes, then my calves, then my knees, all the way up to my head, until I feel a sense of calm within my whole body. Of course there are many different ways to meditate--this is just the way I often begin!

Thanks Lori. I always read blogs and books talking about the benefits of meditating, when people meditate, why they meditate, but I feel like tips on how to meditate get overlooked.

I definitely feel when it comes to meditation, to each their own, but I have certainly arrived at some of my greatest mediative techniques because of tips from others.

I think the breathing exercise is a great one! I feel like I won't be so tempted to think about other things when I'm focusing on breathing from different parts of my body.

Cheers!
