“Whenever you fall, pick something up. ” -Oswald Avery

It’s easy to say falling down is a learning experience if you only take risks that would entail a two-foot drop back to your comfort zone.

There’s nothing wrong with playing it safe if that’s the life you want to live. But most people don’t stick to their comfort zone because they’re fully satisfied there. They do it because it’s easy. Familiar. Safe.

The thought of embarrassing yourself or failing may seem terrifying, but the best things in life often require knee-deep wading through the most uncomfortable feelings.

Today when you think about learning from stumbles, ask yourself this question: are you willing to risk a long fall if it creates the possibility for meaningful reward?

If the answer is yes, put yourself out there. Do something different. Try something that scares you. Reach out to people who know more than you. Stretch yourself and open up the possibility for growth. You may fall, like children do when they learn to walk, but with each stumble you’ll get stronger, smarter, more aware, and closer to the person you want to be.
