“Advice is what we ask for when we already know the answer but wish we didn’t.” ~Erica Jong

At one point or another, you’ve offered advice to someone who rephrased their question until you said what they wanted to hear.

We do it all the time: decide what we want to do and then seek other people’s approval. Usually it’s because you know what’s right for you, but want to permission to go a different way. An easier way. A way that isn’t as scary.

Today if you feel compelled to ask someone what you should do, remember you know the answer. If you’re looking for it outside yourself, odds are it’s that thing you’re resisting. You don’t have to take that risk–you can get someone else’s permission to stay in your comfort zone. Just know it’s a conscious choice to go against your gut.
