For some people, no words are more difficult to say than “I don’t know.” Acknowledging ignorance feels like admitting weakness. As if it somehow implies the person with knowledge is superior.
Although genetics play a role in determining intelligence, no one is born all-knowing. No one absorbs information by standing outside a library. No one learns an answer without asking a question.
Knowledge is power. If you want it, you have to take it. Don’t worry about how look if you ask. Consider instead what you’ll miss if you don’t.
