Tiny Wisdom: On Confidence
by Lori Deschene
“You are the only person on Earth who can use your ability.” -Zig Ziglar
Odds are you know a lot of people who have talents they enjoy but don’t use. We all do. There are singers who quiet their voices, writers who find a million and one excuses not to write their books, and leaders who sit quietly in dead-end jobs, wondering why they feel so discontent.
Oftentimes it’s because they don’t feel like their gifts are good enough.
There will always be someone who knows more and does more–and does it better than us. We can either sit around lamenting the skills we don’t have, or use the ones we do and allow them to grow over time.
It doesn’t even need to be a professional calling. It can be a simple choice to do what you love when you’re able because it makes you smile. The more often we create time for ourselves to feel fulfilled in our actions, the better equipped we’ll be to spread that joy around us.
Today if you feel dissatisfied by the way you’re spending your day, ask yourself: What abilities do I want to use, and how can I stretch outside myself to share them with the world today?
