“Love is just a word until someone comes along and gives it meaning.” -Unknown
I could offer a million and one cliches and suggestions to show love today, but odds are you already know what love looks like when it comes straight from your heart, without being tainted by fear. As with everything in life, the challenge isn’t learning what something means. It’s finding the courage and ability to put that knowledge into action.
For me, it all comes down to one thing: attention.
Love is paying attention to what someone needs. Love is giving attention when you’d rather focus on your own thing. Love is acknowledging that you deserve and need attention at times. Love is placing your attention on the things that really matter instead of dwelling on right and wrong.
Love is devoting attention to all the wonderful little things that someone else does instead of fixating on all the things they could stand to improve.
Love is attention in the moment, given to the person, people, or project that can most strongly benefit from it.
Now the attention’s on you: What do you believe love means?
