    i recently met a guy in med school…to everyone he is the loud always happy guy but somehow he opened up to me and i found out that he is really depressed and suicidal…..he writes suicide notes and cries himself to sleep….i have tried just being there for him but he told me that he is a bad person and i should stay away from him..apart from suggesting psycological help is there anything else that i can do? words that i can tell him…i worry for his safety because he also cuts himself and does drugs

    It’s been awhile! I hope you are doing well in China. Regarding your friend, “just being there for him” like you wrote is basically all you can do. If his company doesn’t bother you, you can offer him to hang out with you when he feels really down, just so he can be close to someone he likes and feels comfortable with (obviously he likes you and feels comfortable with you and that is why he opened up to you).

    Be careful, just in case you need this notice, to not get involved with him romantically!!! It is not a good idea! At best, friends only and take care of yourself first.

    i have been wanting to write to you but it is abit hard to access my gmail account here…
    i am doing really well and things are going so well..for the first time i can truly say that i am happy…
    its amazing the amount of progress one can make by getting away from a toxic environment… so thank you so much for all the help..i deeply appreciate it…
    as for this friend yes i want to take care of myself first..thank you for pointing that out

    Do take good care of yourself. It is amazing how better it is when you do get away from a toxic environment: keep yourself away from such always! Keep yourself well!!!
