    leave or stay

    Hi TinyBudhha,

Previously I’m working in a MNC and recently joined in a Startup , Workculture is good here and also pay is good . But I don’t have any task assignments and Also I dont see any relevant work to my experience. Three days been here in new organization and simply coming and going . When I inquire a senior guy with 16+yrs exp who is also new to this organization . He refuses to help me out and he’s doing his own work and not ready to help me.
so I feel lost here and as of now no savings in bank account . I want to be entrepreneur in life . But this is dragging me and not peaceful inside . What shall I do

    Dear adhil:

Since the work culture and pay is good, why don’t you stay in the job. It is not perfect (senior co worker doesn’t want to help you and work is not relevant to your prior experience), but no job is perfect, and most jobs are far from perfect. You want to start your own business some day- stay in the job and save money, then?

Yes, No job is perfect . I have 5+yrs exp in different technology and here I have to learn a different technology . I’m ready to learn it . I feel like this is not my cup of coffee.A senior in my team is not helping me to learn the new technology .When I asked for any help from him . He’s just saying’I dont know’ , meantime he’s working in the same from morning to evening . It simply says , he knows but he dont want me to know / he’s not interested to teach e or guide me .btw he’s 16+yrs experienced fellow .it is 4 member team only. I have to rely on him..
Yes , you are right . To save money only I have accepted this offer. i cant pass even three days without knowing what actually they are doing . I want to learn , learn learn . but cant say this to anyone.

Confused a lot for past three days . Days are going like a hell in the office . simply sitting and doing nothing . DO i need to ask why they recruited and asking me to do different stuff. Totally confused

    Dear adhil:

Coming to think about it, I am confused as well. You wrote there is a good “workculture” at your job, but how is it so if the only person who can teach you this new technology is not willing to do so?

    Dear adhil:

What did you mean then, in saying there is a good “work culture” at the job?

Hi, Adhil: Having been in a similar situation, I feel like I can empathize to a point. My first comment is that unless someone is required to train you, it is your responsibility to figure it out. This may mean going to coursera.com or edx.com or buying a book, but it sounds like the people who work with you are still trying to figure it out as well, and if you come swinging with independence and enthusiasm for this opportunity to learn, it will look good and you will have a sense of accomplishment. You may also be able to help the next person who is confused. My second thought is this: good jobs are hard to find. You may or may not have found one. I don’t know. But I feel like it is worth putting yourself fully into this experience, even if it’s a bit scary, and making the decision from an informed, wise minded place. I hope that this is helpful, and I will send good energy your way. <3
    Victoria
