I am in my late 20’s and on a quest to be more mindful more aware and forgiving. Ever since I turned 25 I wanted to become more spiritual and truly figure out what my purpose in life is. I had my son at 23 and he I never thought someone so little could also be my teacher, he has taught me unconditional love. I want to be more mindful because I felt like throughout my life before my son I was just living to get through my day and not really appreciating and enjoying my life for each day that I blessed with. I realised that the distance between my parents and I is lost time I cannot get back and shouldn’t be wasted on being angry and upset. I want to live not taking my present day for granted and stop worrying about tomorrow a day I’m not guaranteed. I have learned to appreciate my ups and downs, I understand that life can’t always be good and it can’t always be bad either. I believe that whatever mistakes I make build my character and helps me to grow. It might come off weird when I say this but I love watching Stephen hawking shows and anything that deals with space and the universe I feel drawn to it. Watching them helped me put things into perspective our universe is so grand and earth is just a tiny speck in our galaxy, and for the millions of years earth has been around we have not inhabit another earth. Our earth is like no other, I am thankful for our planet. I guess it helped me on my path to bring more mindful. I also realized that I was a terrible listener something I am also working on. I didn’t realize all the different aspects that went into being a good listener such as quieting my thought when someone is speaking having an open mind, not being judgemental, and having empathy. That’s why when I found tiny Buddha it was like my soul connected with all wisdom this site has to offer. I just wanted to say thank you. I ask please share what helps you to be more mindful, aware, better listener, and more forgiving. Oh and if you want to share your thoughts about our universe as well I’m all ears. Thank you snd have a blessed day.

    Dear Learning:

Good to read your post! I read it earlier in the day but not as attentively as I did just now. Like you, I listen/ read much better when my brain is available for the words of another. My own mind chatter has to be quiet so I can absorb another person’s words and the emotions in a post. I can tell, by reading your post, that indeed you practiced Mindfulness for a while now and you know what it is about.

About the vast, limitless (so I hear) universe- I can’t conceive of anything that has no beginning and no end, space wise or time wise. What a mind boggling concept, for me. No beginning and no end…

One thing that sometimes helps me to be more forgiving is to remember that the universe “I” (any of us) live in, the only one “I” have access to, is the one that I am creating between my ears (so to speak). If I fill mine with hate, resentment, and bitterness, then that is the universe that I must live in. That said, it is not an easy task keeping the flower bed weeded.

True. But can you conceive of a universe that had a beginning and has an end? What came before it? What is that called? What comes after? What will that be called? What exists outside of its boundaries? What do we call that? I cannot conceive of a universe without a beginning or end either, but neither can I conceive of a universe with a beginning or end. Which helps to remind me of how limited this brain and mind I have created are.
