I think that it is too early to write off the recent loan, $4000. You just lent it to him and he may pay you back without you chasing him, according to the agreed upon time table.

You wrote off the loan to your ex boyfriend because you didn’t want to continue contact with him, wanting to end all contact, correct? You don’t want to end contact with your current friends, so this is another difference.

Do you think that you will be offering other people financial help, when they express financial distress?
