They just do that to inflict the most hurt, and so you can’t properly enjoy a special day without inevitably thinking of THEM. Classic narcissistic move. And a strike against them if they ever dream of getting back together one day. By the way, when (when, not if) he contacts you again, it will be on Valentine’s Day or your birthday, etc.
