Dear Jennifer:

You are 22 and your brother is 8. You were born in the old country, he was born in the country you moved to. If I understand correctly from your previous threads of two years ago, you were a content child, living in the country where you were born, with your mother and father. When you were 6,  your father left the country to make a home for you in a new country. He was away for 5 years. You and your mother joined him when you were 11.

You never liked living in the new country, and you felt estranged from your father: when talking with him, it often ended with you crying and him angry.  and became depressed as a result. When you were 14, your brother was born. Fast forward, your brother is 8, and the two of you are angry at each other.

You asked how to help your brother with possible anger issues-

– anger is a difficult emotion and it takes understanding and skill to manage it and to find solutions to the problems that bring about the anger. Starting with you, will you list the problems behind (1) your anger at your brother, (2) your anger at your father, (3) your anger at your mother, if any (4) your anger at yourself, if any?
