Dear Monica:

She didn’t take advantage of the opportunities presented to her (and there were many, as she was truly incredibly beautiful, very sociable and a talented model, dancer and actress, I believe) because … I don’t know.

I believe the answers are in her childhood but when I asked, her response again and again was that her childhood was perfect. According to her, the mother we share was perfect, when she was a child.

I can’t argue with perfection. I don’t believe in it, and in her case, having shared the same mother, I see her idea of perfection as a massive delusion. But she doesn’t. She holds on to her belief that her childhood was perfect as if it is the one and only way for her to live, her safety.

I think that I will never know the reasons.
