My reply is super late I know. But there might be someone who reads this later and will see that there is a large group of people who understand what they’re going through.
I officially left the church early this year after realizing that I had lots of questions that Christianity could not give me the answers to. It’s been an interesting process. On one hand I feel free. It’s one of the most liberating feelings I’ve had in my whole life. (Though I’m only 23!) But I also miss the sense of security that came from being in a community. And I miss the feeling of safety that came from believing I had a personal relationship with God. I was never alone when I was a Christian and that was a huge source of comfort.
I’m happy now and I wouldn’t go back to the church for anything, but it is a bit lonely on the outside I’ll admit.
Lots of love
Terri.
