This sentence in your last post: “I was turned off by years of rape and beatings” – almost hidden by other details, sexuality and such. Years of rape and beatings- I am cautious about asking as I don’t want to awaken the distress that must be associated with such memories, so please ignore my question, if it is better for you: beatings by the sexual abuser or by your parents?

Weren’t your parents there, if they were not the ones who beat you, to notice the results of the beatings, not to mention your terror?
