Dear Cali Chica:

I don’t think that she assumed that you and your sister “felt the same in the world as her”. I think that she didn’t consider at all what you may be feeling. I think that in her use of the pronoun we/ us, she meant she, one singular person. Her husband and daughters were things, not people with their own feelings and thoughts.
