Yes, it is normal to miss your ex, of course. It is normal, or natural because you formed an emotional attachment to him. Once you form an emotional attachment to a person, a pet, even an object (babies form emotional attachments to their blankets, their toys… and adult do too, to their cars, clothes, etc.), when you are not in contact with what you are attached to, you miss it.
In order for the attachment to weaken, avoid contact with the person you are attached to. Distract yourself (a walk, some work that needs to be done…). Try to accept the fact that you miss him, the fact that you will miss him sometimes, and relax, then distract. Keep going.
