Dear likecrystal:
Hearing a voice is different from having a thought in that when you have a thought: (1) you know it’s your thought, and (2) you know that other people cannot hear your thought.
But when you hear a voice, it feels like (1) it is not your voice, but the voice of “something or someone else”, and (2) it feels like other people can also hear the voice.
It is known that a lot of anxiety and stress can lead to hearing voices.
I understand that the voice that you hear is saying words that “very negative”, about you. Everyone has what is called an inner critic: a part of us that criticizes us by producing critical thoughts (ex.: you did this wrong; you are bad for having said that, etc.) Maybe your inner critic expanded from the medium of thinking to the medium of a hearing voices.
In your other thread you mentioned that you “transitioned from one faith to a different belief”, that all your “relationships are of the former” faith, and you mentioned “being shunned”- all these have been causing you a lot of anxiety and stress, which may be what’s behind you hearing voices. What do you think?
