Dear Melissa:

One thing that caught my eye in your post is that you are trying to keep it together for your mother, your relationship, your work… This means to me that you are not receiving comfort from those you are trying to keep it together for. You can’t do it alone, that is life, you can’t do life alone (“It takes a village” comes to mind). Deadlines are distressing, so are many other things and therefore you always need comfort in others. You comfort them and go get comforted by them.
