If you want to know what she meant, better ask her. And then she may have answered honestly, or not. Or she would have changed the subject. I prefer to ask so I get some information and then I evaluate the information I get. In making your choices about contact with her, stick to what you know, that she is changeable and is most likely to remain so. Can you handle such a person in your life?
