Update:
I finally got to the root of why I was afraid to exercise. During the previous time, I was working out with someone I would have considered a friend but the friendship ended shortly after. After much contemplation and forgiveness to myself and my former friend, I have started my fitness plan. I have joined a gym and I have been working out for nearly a week. I am finding I am actually enjoying going to the gym early in the morning and doing something to take care of my body and to help me with my stress.
