My older sibling had a traumatic breakup years back, which was a big setback for her. Her subsequent relationships were flings with ill-intentioned men, which focused on unprotected sex. We got her out successfully but also realised her past issues, including an unwanted pregnancy with an abusive boyfriend.

While she has rebounded from her troughs, she has been staying out for days and not being forthcoming on her whereabouts. We acknowledge her choices as an adult, but am worried for her well-being. She reassures us that “she knows what’s she doing”, but I lack the trust to believe her, partially from my own fears playing up.I find it challenging to connect to her, as we drifted apart during our younger years, and have little emotional reserves to tap on. Understand the long-term focus on filling up the “emotional tank”, but appreciate on what we can do meanwhile. This includes advice on how can I cope with this uncertainty, during this period.

    Dear Lostsoulzz:

I would like to understand better, therefore I ask: are you and your older sibling living in the same home, and are your parents living in the same home as well?

Approximately how old is your sister, and what is her relationship with your parents?
