Don’t mind me. I’m just getting my thoughts down on paper here. Writing poems seems to act like self-therapy.
January 1, 2016 at 5:29 pm #91142jockParticipantI wandered lonely as a kangaroo
Just looking for something to do
Until I noticed something strange
What’s this?
Oh I see now
It’s a little meaning of life toy
Just what I needed
Must be fun to play with
Very similar to a Rubik’s cube
I’ll have to buy the book to figure it out
To master itJanuary 1, 2016 at 5:46 pm #91143jockParticipantHow the hell is hell?
Hot and humid I heard
So heaven is not hot?
As cold as the North Pole?
Hell must be like those countries on the equator then.
And those of us who live in temperate climates are in Purgatory?
Waiting to go to Antarctica?
But if Antarctica really is heaven, I don’t want to go to heaven after all.January 1, 2016 at 6:21 pm #91148jockParticipantWe are all waiting to be woken up
By the one who let us fall asleepIn a previous life I was Jack
but thanks to Caitlin Jenner
I’ve transgendered into a woman
I’m out of the closet
No longer a skeleton
Obesity saved me from thatJuanita
You can’t beat her
She’s an emancipated woman
was stuck in the prison of a man’s body
now reborn as a galJanuary 1, 2016 at 6:29 pm #91149jockParticipantWhat is art?
And are you an artist?
Or should I say, have you discovered the artist within?
I think Art is very underrated.
It bridges the gaps between the science of psychology and the dogmas of religions.
It attempts to express that which conscious thought can’t express.
It goes beyond rational thought.January 1, 2016 at 7:01 pm #91152AnonymousGuestDear Juanita:
You … make me want to be a poet and come up with the magic you produced here. The hell poem… written like a child, a child’s mind. How many people can do that? Not many, I say. Hardly anyone at all. To write like you were a curious child, thinking with a Beginner’s Mind… refreshingly creative, original, authentic, honest and entertaining.
“Juanita, you can’t beat her…” I love this one. True, you can’t beat her. Like me. Like you wrote about me…
The artist within… and the meaning of life toy, I have to google “Rubik’s cube”-
And a kangaroo is finally mentioned by the Aussie that you are, totally… cool, a roo. I wish there were roos here..
You can’t beat Juanita! You are a TREASURE, Jack or Juanita, man or woman, in the closet, outside, emaciated or 1000 mg or kg…

January 1, 2016 at 8:35 pm #91157AnonymousInactiveI am so very straight, and I guess it was from one of the above poems that got me thinking gay, anyways, I joined in a wrote a silly gay riddle
it would be odd to be gay for a day
i wonder, can i be born gay for just one day?
If I did, could I be gay in my house?
Would my friends think it odd if I brought a mouse?
I wonder if they would think twice
or even notice my new device?
Does that change my identity like totally, will “trans” be attached to me?
Will I be the face of gay for a day? for the days which I will not be gay
I find that offensive! Discriminatory and where are my rights!!!
Had I more daylight in the day, I would stand up and fight,
Where shall I go to try out gay for a day?
and why only for one short day?
If it were up to me I would say be gay everyday.
January 1, 2016 at 8:52 pm #91158jockParticipantI sometimes think gay people have a 6th sense
an extra eye, a more insightful view
of life and the worldJanuary 1, 2016 at 9:03 pm #91159AnonymousInactiveoh ya? I dont know really. I would guess though that they are more likely to navigate the new age route
for spirituality.Dont meet too many conservative gay folks talking about a third eye or…lol…. I will say the most charming and nice looking well educated men have been gay..and I am like seriously, you want that over this? But you would be so good for the heterosexual dating pool!! go figureJanuary 2, 2016 at 7:57 am #91167AnonymousGuestDear Juanita:
I googled Rubik’s Cube, of course, I know what it is and this makes me understand your kangaroo poem, beautiful, another beginner’s mind poem, simple and profound… your poems, non pretentious, and as such, they are uncommon, unusual, rare. “I’ll have to buy the book to figure it out”- people do that, I did, buy the books to figure it out, only there is no book. I am impressed by your poetry, Juanita, again: simple (child’s/ beginner’s mind( and profound, the combination of the two makes for a very potent delivery.
* Melissa: I was thinking: “gay in a house… with a mouse” as Dr. Seuss fan and there it was the word mouse. I like the rhyming. I didn’t understand the exchange about gays, spirituality, conservatism but it’s okay, I don’t have to understand everything… nice sounding poem!

January 3, 2016 at 9:42 am #91205AnonymousGuestDear Juanita:
I googled Caitlyn Jenner you mentioned in your poem. Born as a man, now a woman. Here is your poem above:
n a previous life I was Jack
but thanks to Caitlin Jenner
I’ve transgendered into a woman
I’m out of the closet
No longer a skeleton
Obesity saved me from thatJuanita
You can’t beat her
She’s an emancipated woman
was stuck in the prison of a man’s body
now reborn as a gal.”Now I am thinking this is humor, as Jack and Juanita are known for being as funny as hell. Yet, later there was a discussion of gayness (this word is funny to me, gayness) so I decided to start a thread right after this comment “On Homosexuality”- will write as I think.
