    Hello everyone,
I just want advice to overcome my stupid fears that seems to become more and more present. I live in an appartment in a “basement” and there is a lot of insects. Not a LOT but more than other places I guess. I am super scare for some reasons and it’s stupid because these are harmless insects.

The other stupid fear I have right now is Rats. I am seriously scare when I go to the bathroom that a Rat will come out of the toilett … Why? I don’t know. Some people told me that it happened to someone they know and now I am super stressed out about that.

Do you have stupid fears? How do you overcome that? That is really stressful and it impacts my sleep and my relationship with my boyfriend.

    Please help 🙁

    Xx

    Hy Stephanie,
Fears doesn’t define who we are, the way we cope with them does.
The best way to overcome fear is to expose yourself to the situations where you fear the most!
You must face your fears, and that is the easiest way to overcome them.
I’m talking from my personal experience beacause I’m suffering from anxiety and OCD, have lack of self-confidence and self-esteem.
My main fear is not washing my hands or body after I touch something or someone who is ‘contaminated’ because it will give me bad luck in further things that I do. (Silly, right?)
Right now I can tell that you are brave enough to overcome fears because you acknowledged them and not put them away like most of people does.
Have you ever thought about visiting your general practitioner/family doctor and tell him/her about your condition? (anxiety, fears etc…)
Good luck with beating those fears! 🙂
(English is not my first language so sorry if I’ve spelt something wrong or grammar isn’t right)

    Hi Stephanie,

Sounds like you’re developing a couple of phobias?

There’s heaps of great information on the web on suggestions on overcoming phobias so may I say this instead… perhaps also ask yourself the question on why your fear is getting more and more at present? Could there be another contributing factor/s that’s making your fears increase? Perhaps it’s just something simple like not addressing your fear of the insects (and rats) earlier so the fear has had time to build up and train your brain to fear more but I’d also like you to consider…How do you like your place overall? as sometimes when we are stressed that anxiety might come out somewhere else…are you happy with how everything else is in your life?.

And also because you mentioned you live in an apartment in the basement just a couple of other things to consider …are you getting to spend a little time in the sunshine each day?(hormonal imbalances may lead to anxieties too)… and if it was me I’d also check out how many bars you have on your mobile phone (less bars = more Electromagnetic radiation) as it may have to work harder to get signals out from a basement location…. sorry about that 🙂 ..I’ve read to many articles on Electromagnetic radiation and it’s links on increasing anxiety in some people…maybe ‘occupational health and safety’ issues is a phobia of mine ! xD

    Best regards

    Hello Guys,
Thank you for your replies. I do spend a lot of time in my basement appartment since I don’t have a job right now (it’s been a month). I do stress a little more about money and everything so maybe it trigger anxiety a lot. I did see a doctor for anxiety 2 or 3 years ago. He gave me anti-depressants to help and when I wanted to renew my subscription he said that these pills are very addictive and I should try other stuff (meditation, relaxation, etc) before renewing my subscription. I was actually very happy that this doctor was really caring for me and did not just want to sell me pills. I did not have any drugs to help my anxiety since then.

Anyway, maybe it’s time for me to get out more and try harder to find a new job! I try to exercise everyday too because it’s good to help with depresion and anxiety.

Karlo, I don’t know how I can face my fear but I guess it’s just to continue living in my appartment no matter what. To tell myself that no rats is going to come out or whatever. What do you think? Thank you for sharing your fear sith me. I was not thinking it was silly so it helped me to stop judging myself that much.

Thank you guys for not judging me. As for the electronagnectic radiation, my cellphone have a good reception here 🙂 (all bars) so it’s a good sign right?

    Thank you again.
    Love, peace xx
