I agree with Anita I would just tell him!  It’s very unfair to you that this rumor is going around, but I think it would actually take a lot of stress off you if you tell him!  And as Anita said just say it causally if you act worked up then he might sense some doubt!  I think we have all been the center of a rumor in some shape and form and it’s not fun!
