Dear LiamJames:
Do settle into the hurt of your relationship ending. But the suffering you mentioned (“I have been relentlessly trying to ease my suffering from my recent breakup”), the word suffering implies more than hurt- it implies conflict, an internal struggle (which prolongs and maintain hurt and anger and anxiety)-
– what do you mean by suffering?
