Hey guys,
Forgive my random rambling, just feel like penning down my thoughts now.
As I’m writing this now, I believe many of you probably happily having your reunion dinner now.
This year, I decided to stay back and kind of going against the norm. Of course, there are many reasons behind that came to this decision.
Truth be told, I’m not very much a custom-following person. Chinese New Year is a big deal for Chinese all over the world and tonight is one of the important night to have all the family members gathered together for this very important reunion dinner. Although I’m an Asian Chinese myself, but I just don’t regard it as important as others do. Forgive me for saying that, I guess it’s just me.
I do value and respect the practices and every meaning behind it but I just can’t bring myself to enjoy it.
This is actually not the 1st time I skip the dinner, couple of years ago, I still remember I was out with my ex and that was the 1st time I skip the dinner.
Tonight, it kind of brought back lots of memories, some of them I may not even want to remember. But ironically, all these just keep coming back to haunt you despite your efforts trying to bury them.
I guess this is the 1st time I’m spending my CNY’s eve overseas. It is indeed a whole new experience to me.
Deep down I know I’m trying to run away from something but believe me, I found peace by doing that cos at least I could avoid all the drama back home.
Some people used to say, every family has their own drama and that makes it even more interesting cos they will never failed to surprise you in so many different ways!
My life is enough of a shipwreck already, I couldn’t take in anymore of these.
It feels like a silent night to me tonight as if the whole world just stopped and everybody gathered in the house enjoying the laughter and togetherness. It looks quiet outside with lesser traffic on the road. You don’t get this very often and that is why I appreciate and enjoy the tranquility very much.
Sadly, good times don’t last long, I need to head back tomorrow to face the reality and show up even though my presence is so insignificantly unimportant.
Happy Chinese New Year to all of you regardless if you are part of the population who’s celebrating or not celebrating.
Especially those in overseas now, I’m more than happy to hear from you on how are you celebrating your CNY! =)Xx,

I have been a reader in the past 1 year but recently started penning down my thoughts and am pretty excited getting responses from others.
Well, I don’t dislike CNY for any particular reasons but just not very fond of the idea of grand celebration.
And I find those CNY songs a nuisance and unnecessary spending on CNY goods.
Anyway, I hope you had a great reunion dinner tonight! =)Love & lights,
