Book Giveaway: Drawn Together (A Dharma Comics Collection)

Drawn togetherThe winners for this giveaway have been chosen. They are:

  • Kristine Charbonneau
  • Jessica Raymond
  • Darren

Every now and then something pops up in my Facebook feed that simultaneously makes me smile, pulls me out of my head, and pushes me to be the best version of myself. Many times when that happens, it’s a comic from Leah Pearlman.

I first met Leah in 2010, shortly after she began creating these simple yet enlightening drawings. In person, she exudes warmth, love, and wisdom, and her comics are a reflection of her sunny personality and outlook.

Since I’m a huge fan of both Leah and her work, I couldn’t be more excited to share her first book with you—or more grateful that she’s provided three free copies for Tiny Buddha readers.

Titled Drawn Together: Uplifting Comics on the Curious Journey Through Life and Love, the book includes more than 100 color comics—some, favorites from her online collection, and others, new, never-before-published drawings.

Entertaining and encouraging, as described on Amazon, Drawn Together is the perfect gift for anyone seeking a daily dose of illustrated inspiration.

And of course, it is broken now. Instead of moan, complain or get really upset… I just smiled at myself and said: HAVE A GREAT MONDAY 😉

My daughter is addicted to crystal meth. I have been through a roller coaster ride with her for over 4 years. She is not ready yet to go into recovery. My husband and me try every day to reach out to her in the hope that we can convince her to come back to the light. I signed up for Tiny Buddha to help myself. But I find myself forwarding her so many posts. So many posts seem to speak to the issues I think she has and they are so inspirational. Today, the post below this giveaway was about not comparing yourself to others. It made me smile today because it was exactly what I had been doing before I checked my email. Comparing other families to ours and wishing ours was better. So thank you again Tiny Buddha for reminding me that everyone has a unique journey. I know some day I will look back on this time and realize it was intended to make me strong and love my daughter even more! 🙂

I saw a video today”why are they black?”
It goes like this a white mother and her daughter were seating in the park… nd a black mother and her daughter were seating on the bench next to them…white little girl named Sarah asked her mother seeing a photo of dark person in a book…”why are they black?”instantly black woman looked towards them…The mother of Sarah told her not to say like that… But she again asked “why are they black?” Nd then-
White mother-black is beautiful. They are black but they are beautiful. Its pure. You know Sarah ,they are black because God created them first. And he fell in love with his first baby and his beauty…so he created many of them with a beautiful heart inside.

But Sarah being a child was curious… So she asked then mother why are we white?

Sarah’s mother- well, one day, The God was passing through a park… He saw a beautiful black girl playing inside a park with a white clay, she was making a doll for her to play with.He stopped there to watch her closely. Her beautiful little hands were full of white clay, she had almost painted herself with the white clay and He was amused to see her,so he decided to make more people and paint them white .He loved his new creation ,so he made all the shades of white and created all of us.But inside,we all are black,we all are same.

Then Sarah thought for a second, smiled at the black girl and went to her.She held her hand and said “Don’t worry ,its just a paint.Inside we are all black”
The black girl smiled looked towards her mother. She too was smiling. And then both of the little Gods creation went to play.

This was one of the beautiful videos I have seen. And yes it off course made me smile 🙂

I attended my first ever kirtan today. I first began exploring yoga and meditation in my freshman year of college. However, often I would relapse into depression which was partially influenced when I overworked myself and made no time for my hobbies, such as yoga. Two years later, and I still struggle with time management. I decided that due to it being the 50 year anniversary of this specific yoga institute, now would be as good a time as any to ease back into my practice. Hearing the serene voices around me, pariticpating in the chanting and feeling the genuine hope of everyone there was an amazing experience. I haven’t quite felt anything like it. I could not help smiling throughout the whole event. 🙂 At the end of the day, it provided me the inspiration to resume my yoga practice.
