Hey Garrett. Do some googling of ‘minimalism’ which could be what you’re after. This is also a practical (yet profound) book you might like: https://www.amazon.com/Life-Changing-Magic-Tidying-Decluttering-Organizing/dp/1607747308
I’m only a few years older than you by the sounds of it, and while I was going through University I took time off (3 month and then 1 year) to go backpacking alone around the world. It’s possible to do this very cheaply ($10USD a day) and less depending on where you go, how travel-smart you are, who you meet, and what you’re comfortable and not comfortable with (for instance, I effectively slept out on the streets sometimes).
Now I’m back in my comfortable lifestyle at home but I know that I can carry those experiences with me even as I do earn more money and own more things, because I have sen just how happy I can be with almost nothing.
So roughing it for a while doing solo travel is my number 1 tip personal tip!
Goodluck
