The country was celebrating the heroic leader death“- Dr. John  Garang de Mabior, June 23, 1945- July 30, 2005. For 22 years before he died, he led the Sudan People’s Liberation Army/ Movement (now known as South Sudan People’s Defense Forces) as a commander in chief during the second Sudanese civil war. He was a major influence leading to South Sudan’s Independence (July 9, 2011).
