Our first instinct as a baby is to reach out for help. That social drive never really leaves and when we spend time with others we naturally compare. And we have desires. We see what someone else has and think that seems really nice. I want that too! Human nature is to copy and seek out a social group. I think it is habit and human nature that brings people together. We are drawn to the people who share similar habits, or interests and perspectives.

I believe that kindness and honesty help people to connect with each other. It fosters trust and is essential for our survival. Empathy is the social grease that eases the squeaky wheel.

All of society is built on trust and honesty. It is why dishonesty and untrustworthyness are punished.

Unfortunately, it is human nature to make mistakes and to lie. My son accidentally broke the blinds and immediately hid the broken piece in a drawer. I hadn’t even said anything. We don’t punish him for making mistakes either. He then felt guilty and started tidying up his toys.
