Dear Jack:

Your bully older brother criticized you and planted the seed there, then your superego turned into Marvin the Monster took over. Now here is the thing: your older brother was not with you all the time so he couldn’t criticize you when he was not present for things he did not see or hear. But your superego, or Marvin the Monster, was ALWAYS with you and always is, so he has lots and lots of material to criticize you for.
