Dear Jack:
“Our online persona is not the whole story.” I looked up “persona: “a social role or a character played by an actor.”
Here is my quote as it is being formed: “Our persona then is never the whole story, not in person, not on line, not on the phone and not to ourselves when we close our eyes at night and drift into unconsciousness.
You being submissive, placid as you put is was a social role formed in the context of your family of origin,. It was an adjustment to circumstances. Is it you? Not here, not anymore, not once the role is exposed for what it is- a role.
I bet your mother when she told you what a placid child you were; your brothers… people who spent time with you in person- never knew this was only a role. In person, they only knew your persona, not your person. A persona that they had a big part in forming.
Sure, I formed an attachment to you without seeing you- without seeing your physical body or otherwise sensing you with sound (although a highly strung hyena gives a clue), smell, etc. But others having seen you, heard you may have formed an attachment to you based on your persona or something, not based on your person. I claim I formed an attachment to you based on your person.
Forum Attachment Therapy (FAT)- let’s see… why cure it? Does Pious Pete have a problem with it? Does he tell you it is a betrayal of your partner? Doer Norman gets all nervous with Pete breathing down his neck? So Adam the Adult figures best to put an end to our communication? If so, I will fully corporate (I respect Adam). Otherwise, share this communication with your partner (If indeed Pete and Norman are giving you a hard time)- ask her if she has a problem with this. Make your decision.
I can’t think of any other reason why you would want to cure yourself from communication with me.
It is my understanding that you are real here. And so am I. I will fully respect your choices as far as our communication (no fuss)
