I’m 21 and I have IBS and since I had to leave my job to care for my Dad, I’ve let IBS take control of my life and I can’t get out that mindset and it’s really getting me down. Any advice?

Danny do you know what your triggers are? Have you identified any particular foods that cause problems? Or is stress a factor?

    Have you seen a doctor?

Perhaps if you can identify some positive steps you can take, you might feel a bit better about it. It is definitely something that can take over, especially if you’re struggling to get it under control.

Yeah I’ve had IBS for about 2 years now but I just mean in general. Its ruined my life and affected me massively and I can’t figure out how to change my mindset about it.
I have to plan everything around my stomach, depending on how I feel on the day. I’m currently unemployed but I have had to miss a couple of job interviews because I was so scared of my stomach playing up and then because my anxiety kicked in from worrying about my stomach it then set it off.

I’ve had IBS for 17 years and could ramble on for days about the many things I’ve tried to help it. I totally get what you’re saying though. Just let me tell you what I do. I have a pretty restricted diet..mostly macrobiotic with a little raw. I’ve taken many yoga classes, get lots of sleep and take really good care of myself! I’ve gotten the best information about IBS from my macro counselor and holistic doctors although I did go for a colonoscopy and tests to rule out other possible conditions. I wish you the best Danny..
