I guess I do in that I am interested in life’s meaning.
I want to know why I am here and what is my purpose.
I saw a funny youtube video by a guy who calls himself J P Sears. He makes fun of the people who want to appear spiritual by adopting new age language and dressing like a hippie. And some hilarious scenes where he acts “more spiritual” than others as if it is a competition.
But he is making a serious point.
We don’t have to dress like a Buddhist monk to be a Buddhist.
Some spiritual people I’ve met are not even connected to any faith, religion or philosophy. Yet their actions betray a real kindness to humanity and respect for life. It’s as if once we label ourselves as Buddhist , Christian or whatever, we feel a need to look like one. That’s one reason I haven’t really committed to one yet.
Why am I interested in spirituality?
Well I think it holds the key to real contentment, real happiness. We need to reflect on our daily life. Are we just living like robots? What fears are influencing my decision making? Am I prepared to move outside my comfort zone?
You could say I’m interested in psychology too, which is true.
Currently I’m fascinated by Carl Jung and Jungian Analysis. But he respected the mystery of religions. He admitted their importance to man’s search for meaning.- This topic was modified 9 years, 3 months ago by jock.

that there’s something bigger that connect us

nature, yeah that’s right, my partner doesn’t think she is spiritual but loves spending time alone walking near the ocean.
nature is her spirituality.
Yoga is something I would like to spend more time on. Not forcing difficult poses, just stretching muscles that haven’t been stretched for years. It definitely adds to wellbeing.September 11, 2015 at 9:12 am #83169AnonymousGuestDear jack:
Spirituality is not separate from physicality and physicality is not contradictory to spirituality. We are animals and we have that neo-cortex/ rational mind. The two do not have to be enemies. When they are enemies, we are sick. Spirituality is a good word only if it means mental health, mental well being. Of course, there is no such thing as not-physical. Every thought and feeling we have is physical, it is a chemical or energetic neural process. So no getting away from the ANIMAL and NATURE. Spirituality has to work together with the laws of nature: self interest first, for example, everything has to benefit the individual if it is to work (although the male bees that die while mating … oh, I think a whole bee community is considered an individual, but I digress. Yoga feels good because often people “live in their heads” and it is a relief to know there is an extension to the head and we don’t HAVE TO be trapped in that head, nice to spend some time underneath that head.
These are my thoughts this fine morning on spirituality.

Hee. I’m one of the people for whom 11.11 leaps out and grabs me, in peculiar circumstances sometimes. I believe trees have feelings and will always ask before I sit under it. I tell it throw something at me if you want me to go. I’ve seen ghosts and I am beginning to become convinced that there’s an element of ESP in my bones as some coincidences happen too often to be coincidences.
I like the notion of white feathers being spirits and I like the notion that sometimes you can have real meetings of other souls in your dreams. like a coming together to share a message. well I get hat a lot.
I have a word to which I attribute all this beauty and grace. That word to me is God. but… I don’t follow religion so it’s really a faith or a state of mind that I’ve named that, and give thanks to.My idea of wonder is seeing that leaf that fell off the tree right in front of your eyes and no one in the entire universe saw that but you. that bird with a worm in it’s mouth, the smell of snow, the lowing of cows in the evening.
this complete, and I’m so sorry but, self-indulgent scoop out of my brain there is… for me I follow bruce lee: don’t think; feel.
logic is only man made. the world and its existence makes logic a drop in the ocean. there’s so much more wonder out there.
enjoy.
September 22, 2015 at 9:35 am #83843NadiaParticipantHi Jack!
I grew up with a religious background, but the moment I moved out of my parents I began to evolve from the label of a Christian into a Spiritual person. I’ve met many people from various religions that live by these labels but inside are unkind and judgmental people. I decided to focus on becoming the best person I could be and not lose my faith in God and the good in others.
