My partner and I have been together for 11 months. We recently separated for 6 weeks but have just decided to patch things up. We both love each other dearly. We are both single parents with one child each, we don’t live together yet. The problem I had was that my partner stays at mine (and my best friends) house most nights of the week. My friend and I take turns cooking food. My friend recently found a new love and he also joins us. Problem is, her partner often brings food over and cooks us meals, cooks a BBQ for us or brings dessert over for us all to share. My partner has never contributed. I feel a little used. Since splitting for the 6 weeks I realise that he loves me a lot and this isn’t a issue in his mind. Any tips on how I can see past this? My partner has very limited money available after paying mortgage and bills….

You either have to compensate for what he is not doing or have a chat with him, explain to him how you feel. Honesty goes a long way. 🙂
He may not contribute this way but may contribute to you other ways. So maybe you can pick up where he lacks effort

If it’s important for you, let him know and talk about how you’d like if it the two of you could team-up together to make group sit down meals more special. Go shopping together. Plan a dish. Make it together. It doesn’t have to be a confrontation. It can be a bonding, learning, and growth experience. 🙂
