    I am a university student and, there are 30 girls in my batch, but I have one and only crush. She is a very innocent girl. she never talk to me, I have tried many times to start a conversation with her but she is very shy type girl. she always speaks to the exact matters. I want to get her number. Please don’t imagine me a flirting guy, I am also innocent but I can’t control my feelings for her. it Maybe one-sided love. I am afraid if I ask her for number maybe she slap on my face. what should I do now?

    Hi jack,

    What I would do is start a study group. Or a movie group. Whatever would work best. Collect numbers in front of her. She should then give you hers, no question.

    After that, ONLY text her about the study group or club get togethers. This will make her trust you. Then later this spring, text/call her about personal stuff.

    Dear jack:

    You can give her your number instead of asking for hers. Not much of a chance that she will call you though if she is very shy, but not much of a chance that she will give you her number either.

    Because “she always speak to the exact matters”- speak to her to the exact matters she speaks about, see if you can carry on a conversation with her on exact matters, then another conversation, maybe over time she will feel more comfortable to talk with you, and you will too.

    Thank you all for great suggestions. we have been studying in the same class for the last three months. but we never talked to each other. Basically she is from the Philippines and came to the US to study. After meeting her, I feel like all Filipino girls are shy. I was searching the internet about Filipino women’s nature and interests. I found an article https://seeya.com/filipino-women/ written specifically about Filipino women. This guy wrote a lot about Filipino women. what you think guys the article author correctly describes the facts about Filipino women? And if you know any other facts about Filipino girls, please let me know.

    As I have said above, we know each other for the last three months. As we are new to each other. She is a Filipino girl. She is a very shy type of girl. Maybe all Filipino girls are shy?     Dear jack:

    Suggestions for you to consider:

    1. Regarding traditional Filipino games,Wiki: “Sungka is played on a board game using small sea shells in which players try to take all shells. The winner is determined by who has the most shells”- you can buy one or put together this game by googling the game, collecting sea shells and so forth, then if you get the chance, show it to her and ask her if she wants to play that game with you.

    2. You can look for a YouTube of one of the popular (and appropriate) Filipino comedians, like Ai-Ai, the known name of Martina Aileen de as Alas, called the “queen of comedy” (I never saw or heard her shows, better you check it beforehand). Other names of Filipino comedians are Listed in Wikipedia and elsewhere.

    3. A more serious point:  if you are a practicing Christian, you may be able to bond with her over the fact that “As of 2010, over 90% of the population (in the Philippines) were Christians, with over 80% professing Roman Catholicism”.

    Religion and Family are very high value in the Filipino culture, so if you are not a Christian, or better in this regard, a Roman Catholic- your chances to be the boyfriend of a traditional Filipino Roman Catholic woman are low, and if her family is not likely to approve of you as her boyfriend for any reason- your chances are low as well.

    4. Always talk and act respectfully to her. It is important to act respectfully toward people of any culture and ethnicity. Respect is a very high priority value in the Filipino culture.
