I’m having a really hard time being social and meeting new people. I have friends but I guess they consider me acquaintances because we don’t spend time together and hardly talk on the phone. It bothers me really deeply that this is the case and I try to reach them, invite them out with me but plans never develop so I spend a lot of time by myself. I really need ideas on where I can go and spend time if not to make new friends at least make opportunities for some light interaction. I’m really concerned about how antisocial I am; I’m also on welfare so don’t have money to spend on doing fun things. What are things I could do without spending money that I can still meet people? Thanks

    Hello,

First of all, I want to let you know that you are not antisocial at all. The fact that you attempted to invite your friends out with you shows you also want to communicate and have your social life. The problem is just because you don’t seem to have enough time hanging out with your friends and trying to know them better.

Secondly, I think there are plenty of activities that you can do to meet people. For me, I will join charity events. Since I have been living in the UK for 4 years, I always attend charity events each year. I have been volunteering for multiple organisations such as Cancer Research UK and Royal London Society for Blind People. Not only you can meet new people from different backgrounds, ages but you can also learn a lot from those events. At the end, you can find all of the people you meet in the events, e.g. the volunteers, they all share the same goal is to do something for good causes. So I think volunteering work is very meaningful. You can mingle with new people and at the same time, contribute your efforts to the society by doing something right. The return you will get is the endless gratitude of people who are suffering from miserable conditions, who really need a helping hand.

Well..That’s all I can say to you. Hope this will help you somehow! Best of luck:)
