Hello Everyone,
I’m a 20 year old girl and I’ve always been having problems with my ovaries and my menstrual cycle. I’ve been having these problems since I was 13 years old. To be honest I don’t feel so connected to my body, there have been certain periods when my body felt foreign to me and I hated it. I aswell feel like my sexual side has faded away, and I’m not that sensual and feminine.
Is my Sacrak Chakra bloced? And if so what do to balance it?Thank you very much!

I just read a bit about the “sacral chakra” in Wikipedia. It is associated (for females) with the ovaries. There are links showing when I googled about yoga practices and such that may interest you (I am careful to not open links myself, these days).
I think that not being in touch with your body- as I have been out of touch myself- has to do a lot with anxiety. Anxiety is ongoing, excess fear. Fear in nature, motivates an animal, when in danger to either RUN or FIGHT. But sometimes, when the animal has nowhere to run and no chance to win if it fights, it FREEZES. When it freezes it is blocked, big time. It just lies there, not moving, feeling a stranger to itself and its body.
In humans, when we are scared for too long, we too Freeze, in other words, we feel strangers to our own bodies. Competent psychotherapy to heal from anxiety will help a whole lot. Practices like slow yoga will help as well, it helped me. It put me in touch with my body. Before the yoga (and therapy) I felt like I was a huge head thinking, thinking and then thinking again. With yoga, I felt there was more to me than my overthinking brain, underneath- muscles I wasn’t aware of, sensations.

January 18, 2017 at 10:29 am #125650AnonymousGuestDear bluesoul:
I understand. There are three natural responses to fear in nature: Flight (run), Fight and Freeze. The Freeze response in humans is also known as Dissociation, Depersonalization- these include that numb feeling you are talking about, where nothing feels real and you observe yourself from the outside, like you are not present in your body. Not being present in your body… makes your body feel foreign, like it doesn’t belong to you.
So fear, ongoing and excessive, aka anxiety is too much for the brain and body to tolerate for long periods of time, and so, the brain defends against that distress by freezing.
Heal as much as possible from the anxiety, and you WILL get in touch with your body; you will return to occupy it; you will feel present in your body and in your life!

Irregular menses usually occur because –
1) Poor lifestyle habits – nutrition issues, lack of good sleep, hardly any exercise.
2) Weight issues – underweight, overweight or obese
3) psychological problems leading to high stress levels – such as depression, anxiety
All these can mess up your cycle.
It is best you visit a gynaecologist though for a proper checkup in case there is some other reason.
Find better ways to deal with your stress levels if the problem is psychological. Go talk to someone you are close to, keep busy with good hobbies, manage your thoughts better.

Thank you so much for your reply! I do see a gynaecologist very often but I thought maybe this problem has deeper roots.
January 18, 2017 at 11:49 am #125655Nina SakuraParticipantDear bluesoul,
It’s usually any of the three. It would be good if you could ensure that 1 and 2 are taken care of. The female body is quite complex and irregular menses rather common for many women. Do you have any particular activity that helps you relax and feel more comfortable?
Often our thoughts, especially negative ones have an impact on our bodies too in terms of hormones being released such as cortisol which mess up the system. Deep breathing exercises, yoga, de-stressing associations with support network or sports help the body.
For more deep rooted issues, finding professional help would be good.
I would like to mention more about chakras but my understanding is too shallow to delve into this explanation.
The feelings you described – I often felt those for several years because of my weight and self esteem problems. I was also anxious and had lot of negative thoughts often. My life style choices too were poor as a result. I isolated a lot and stayed in my head. Of course this affected my body too in an adverse manner. Everything is connected. It was important for me to learn skills on how to manage myself better. I didn’t start learning though until I hit rock bottom after a steady decline over the years. It’s important you find the correct help for whatever issues you are going through. Don’t hold it in yourself.
