Some of the biggest challenges in relationships come from the fact that most people enter a relationship in order to get something. They’re trying to find someone who’s going to make them feel good. In reality, the only way a relationship will last is if you see your relationship as a place that you go to give, and not a place that you go to take. The reason for all the sorrow in relationships today is we have stopped giving and expect a lot. Marriage is a classic example. Before expecting out of it just give your maximum in the relationship and then see the magic.
Relationships can help you be happier and more fulfilled. Even more importantly,
happiness (and being as happy as you can possibly be) will create and maintain
better, long-lasting relationships for you. So just make a little change of perception and life would change for the better.April 12, 2013 at 12:26 pm #33766Marilyn Briant-RockmoreParticipantYes, its good to give in relationships, but the answer to personal happiness is not that simple. For way too many years, I was the only one giving. I gave way too much and felt used and drained. I finally realized that it was important to give to myself — time, love and respect. Now I make sure my I identify my own needs and that they are met. I am much happier, experience a deep inner peace and can give without expecting something back or feeling resentment.

I understand that relationship is not pure science where the result of the inputs will always be the same….but when I write for giving I mean that the sorrow in relationships today is because we have stopped giving truly and have started expecting a lot. Go for a deep introspection and see if something has happened from your end , if not, it was a purely mismatch. Remember “Our real character is what we do when we think no one is watching us” . Be a good judge. Any rule does not involve 100% situations but a majority of them. If you feel happy today then probably you ventured in the wrong association. Good Luck……….God BlessApril 18, 2013 at 7:42 pm #34024Rajiv SahayParticipantHi Marilyn,
