“Enslavement by Illusion is comfortable. It is Liberatio nby the truth that people Fear.”
-David R. HawkinsThe concept of the Mastermind Group was formally introduced by Napoleon Hill in the early 1900’s. In his timeless classic, “Think and Grow Rich” he wrote about the Mastermind principle as: “The coordination of knowledge and effort of two or more people, who work toward a definite purpose, in the spirit of harmony.“
He continues … “No two minds ever come together without thereby creating a third, invisible intangible force, which may be likened to a third mind.”In a Mastermind Group, the agenda belongs to the group, and each person’s participation is key. Your peers give you feedback, help you brainstorm new possibilities, and set up accountability structures that keep you focused and on track. You will create a community of supportive colleagues who will brainstorm together to move the group to new heights. You’ll gain tremendous insights, which can improve your business and personal life. Your Mastermind Group is like having an objective board of directors.
In order to help you create a successful Masterminding Group we provide the following list of tools;
• Define a Clear Purpose: Make it big and bold. If it scares people away, good! Let them turn tail and you will find the right people eventually. Clarity is the singlemost important factor in creating a Masterminding group. This includes not only a clearly defined mission statement but also a clearly defined name for the team. Consider it a brand and make it appealing to not only the group members but potentially the general public.
• Courage: Your desire must be greater than your fear. Fear is ego driven and when you allow your ego to trump your purpose then when someone has a better idea or a broader perspective you may withdraw or sabotage the process. Your desire to reach a clear objective with collaborative efforts must be greater than your ego.
• Time Management: It’s no secret that Time is incredibly valuable, even if that time is being spent Masterminding a solution to an ongoing problem or a new frontier for your business. Schedule meetings and specify a certain amount of time you will spend with the group. Nothing like a time constraint to keep everyone on point and concise.
• Keep an Open Mind AND an Open Forum: The entire point of Masterminding is to forge a NEW path. Do not allow old conditioning to hold back your momentum. Invite and accept new ideas, keep it fun and interesting, allow the Minds involved to explore and most importantly there should be no rules that limit the flow of ideas, even if they stray from the purpose somewhat. Tangents will only allow for the potential of a brand new session in the future.
Masterminding is an invaluable tool to overcome obstacles and forge new directions in your business life, your personal life and your family life.
