Submission Guidelines
Tiny Buddha is a place for community–where people come together to share what they’ve learned and how they apply that knowledge to their daily lives.
With more than 325,000 social media friends, Tiny Buddha reaches a large audience of motivated, passionate people.
Over the past two years, the site has grown by leaps and bounds, now garnering more than 1.7 million page views per month.
If you read the daily quotes on Twitter or Facebook, and strive to live with purpose, passion, joy, and mindfulness, we would love to hear from you.
Anyone, of any age, from any location can submit an original post (not previously published anywhere online) with a bio for inclusion on the blog. This is not an elite space, reserved for experts, thought leaders, or professional bloggers. This is a blog for real people who are willing to share themselves vulnerably and authentically.
Why Contribute to Tiny Buddha?
1. Your post will receive broad exposure, promoted to 240,000+ Twitter followers and 70,000+ Facebook friends. Tiny Buddha receives more than 1.7 million page views per month. Since I only publish one guest post per day, bloggers receive the community’s full attention when they share their wisdom.
2. The Tiny Buddha community is highly responsive through comments on the site and the social networking pages, creating a rewarding experience all around.
3. Every post includes a bio with links back to your site. Most contributors note that featuring their writing on Tiny Buddha increases traffic and subscribers to their blog.
4. I often work with writers to strengthen their posts through editing, sometimes minor and, with permission, more extensive. I am happy to provide detailed notes explaining my editorial instincts, which will help you improve the content on your own blog.
5. As a Tiny Buddha contributor, you can update your bio at any time to promote products you may be launching.
Writing Guidelines:
- Include one of Tiny Buddha’s quotes at the top of your post.
- Share a specific story connected to that idea. It’s far more powerful to show us your struggles and then offer tips to overcome them than it is to write about it theoretically, with a sense of authority or removal.
- Offer practical information that will help readers address similar challenges. It doesn’t need to be a list of tips, but it needs to come back to the readers somehow.
- Provide original, personal, and honest work. Original means your post has never before been published anywhere, including your own blog. Please note that I do not publish excerpts from books.
- Differentiate your post from others already on the site. Many posts cover similar ideas, and that’s perfectly OK! If you share your own story and unique reflections, this will be sufficient to diversify it.
- Reserve self promotion to your bio (as opposed to marketing a course, workshop, or service directly in the post).
How to Submit:
- Send your post in Microsoft Word, keeping paragraphs to 3 sentences or less.
- Include bolded parts for emphasis and bullet points or numbers, where it makes sense.
- Use 11 size font, black, with single spacing.
- Keep your post between 800-1,300 words. I occasionally publish shorter posts, but this is rare.
- Include the email address you use for your gravatar (for the photo next to your author bio).
- Email your post to Lori at email(AT) tinybuddha(DOT)com. Please only send one post at a time.
- Write “Submission for Blog” in the subject line.
Your post may be edited, including your title, and it may be included in free compilation eBooks, with your links in tact. It may be a week or more before you receive a response, but please know I respond to everyone who submits.
Thank you for the light you share. I appreciate you!
**I received a large volume of submissions on February 1st, so I have closed them again until March 10th. If we exchanged emails in January and I asked you to resubmit in February, you can disregard this note and send your post now. Feel free to email me at email(AT)tinybuddha(DOT)com if you have any questions!**

Though I run this site, it is not mine. It's ours. It's not about me. It's about us. Your stories and your wisdom are just as meaningful as mine.
