Over a month ago I said goodbye to a friend who I still appreciate and greatly miss since I have thus far not met anyone else I feel I can relate too. Even while having some adventures out west and have many distractions, I think of the things he would have enjoyed if he was with me. I want to send him a letter, but do not know what to write to him. I decided to paint a card so it is something unique from me, but did not want to specifically mention how I feel. I also do not expect nor want him to feel he has to reply to my letter, but would open up a conversation if he ever wanted to talk to someone. We were not close and we rarely talked to each other, so it is difficult for me to find the right words to connect to him.
Anyone have any suggestions, a simple note that can brighten his day?

My suggestion is that you use what you posted here, something like:

I ended up not writing him a letter, rather I decided to text him on his birthday. He never replied ( and its almost one month later), so I just assume he doesn’t care and I am moving on like I should have long ago. Thank you for your suggestion, but I am really glad I didn’t take the time to write him anything special, because I would have been more hurt if I did.

Maybe he would have answered a more personal communication. Maybe he got many birthday texts and yours was lost in them. Maybe he was busy on his birthday.

Maybe you are right, he could have responded to a letter, but I doubt it. I just cannot see him actually wanting anything to do with me, I have always been really confused with him because he seemed like he enjoyed talking to me around school related situations but never wanted to hang out outside of it, and because of it I had a tendency to feel bad every time I talked to him because I couldn’t tell if I was bothering him. I think I can take enough of his hints that if he wanted to stay in touch he would put some effort into it, so I am done wasting my time.

Done wasting your time is a good thing. I like your decisiveness here and on the other thread.
anitaJuly 8, 2016 at 9:27 pm #109194Miniature BodhisattvaParticipantLaure, I’m so sorry this individual didn’t respond to your text. Since I don’t know all the details of your relationship with this person, I hesitate to advise you on what to do or guess what may of happened. What I do feel comfortable saying is that anybody who is traveler and thinks to *paint* somebody on card on the road sounds like a pretty awesome friend who deserves equally high-quality people in their life! Yup, you’re the bees knees and I hope you meet others that would be giddy at the thought of getting any type of correspondence from you!
