I wish to learn Buddhism from monks and learn things I don’t understand. Is a formal training from an institute like (http://www.rootinstitute.ngo/ ) fruitful? Are there people who have taken training like this? I will have to invest a life-time of my savings to take this education. I want to make a good decision. Can someone please show me the way? 🙂
What does that link states, can you share (I do not want to open the link)? What is your purpose in investing a life time of your savings to take this education, your aim?
The link above is the website of the institute in India that offers a 5 year program on Buddhism.. Exact link
I want to learn more about Buddhism and life as a monk. I’m self learning and I see I need tutoring.. or some sort of help. Tried reaching out to local monks ( I live in Bombay, India) but no luck.
I’m willing to travel and pay fees to any institution or a monastery that can accept me as their pupil. 🙂
Buddhism stinks, as does ALL religion/spirituality.
But Buddhism/Hinduism I find particularly repellant, mainly due to the odious idea of reincarnation. I think on balance I would prefer total oblivion. How anyone can happily subscribe to such a monstrous state of affairs is beyond me.
There are many book you can read. Just do a search on Buddhism. It is always nice to have a teacher but in the end it will come down to you. Your ability to meditate and live in the moment. Show compassion and empathy for all beings….realize when you are not. Be the change in the world you wish to see. Look into Spirt Rock it is a meditation center in OR. When you travel you must understand that Buddhism like all religions are influenced by cultures. You can study and evolve your practice on your own. There is only one rule…Do no harm. Peace.
