There is an episode of Ted Talks that I recommend called “Everything you thought you knew about addiction is wrong”.
I found this helped me better understand my own addiction issues, I hope it helps you as well.

I try to start every day with at least 15mins of meditation. It fills me with positivity and helps me to stay grounded and focused on the day ahead. Next up is always exercise, whether it’s running, yoga or kickboxing. It gets the endorphins going and the blood pumping which gives me energy to take on the rest of the day.

My evening routine usually consists of preparing my meals for the following day. I eat my breakfast and lunch at work and often even dinner so I like to have everything prepared ahead of time. It’s fun to plan out what I’m going to have and I enjoy experimenting with different recipes. It also helps me to feel organized when I can go to bed and I know everything’s ready for the next day. Nutrition is very important to me so making my own meals allows me to keep an eye on my calorie intake.

If I’m not too tired I try to end each day with 30mins of meditation. This helps to wind down and quiet the mind making it easier to slip into sleep. Recently I’ve taken to listing three things I’m grateful for at the end of each evening. It’s a nice way to end the day on a positive note! And of course, curling up with a good book is always a relaxing end to any day. 🙂
