    Hi All,

I’ve finally met her. She seems ok. She’s introvert, quiet and can be awkward at times. We went out for dinner with my boyfriend and some of her friends (7 of us in total) and then went to the cinema. She dressed like gothic people, not so much makeup or anything, only the clothing. Her friends were a bit of an eccentric bunch. I enjoyed the evening out. I spoke to her. It was quite difficult as it was the first time we met. She didn’t speak much, only when I asked her questions she answered but wouldn’t ask me back. I guess if we meet again then it’ll be better and we can talk more. I must admit she looked a bit stoned I thought she was on drugs or something. I asked my bf and he said she used to smoke pot once in a while at parties and things. Maybe it just the way she is – awkward and quite happy to just sit there and listen to people. I think she’s quite an intelligent girl though.

I feel a little bit better after I’ve met her. I’m beginning to understand why my boyfriend and her have a good friendship and they are best friends. When I saw her I thought to myself ‘Jeez there is no comparison there is there, we are just in totally different leagues’.

I think I’d like to meet her again and spend more time with her to get to know her. The end of the day she is my boyfriend’s bestfriend.

    Hi Kelly,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It’s good to know someone who can relate to what I’m going through. I do want to be with my boyfriend long term – that’s what we all hope for when entering a relationship. I’m willing to work at this and to make it work.

If you dont mind can I ask why did you and your ex break up? It was not because of him being best friend with his ex?

    Thanks

Thank you all for sharing your thoughts. Much appreciated. Communications is key and I’ve told my boyfriend about how I feel and how unhappy I’m about this situation. He’s trying to arrange a meet up with the 4 of us: him, me, the female best friend and her boyfriend.

I said going forward if he meets her 4 times a year, I’d like to come to their meetup 3 times out of 4. It’s a compromise here. I’ve said to him to reduce his frequency of email contact with her if possible – 2 emails a week is more than enough instead 5. She has a family, a boyfriend and plenty of friends around – not emailing him one day won’t. My boyfriend also needs to learn to live without his best friend for one day (try). Because you never know, she could be run over by a bus at anytime. He needs to go out and meet more people (he’s quite introvert).
