    Hi Serena,

I’m sorry to hear that you are suffering. I am new, and still trying to wrap my head around some of these concepts that Buddhism teaches. I too place high value on what others thing or say about me. As I have been reading been and common sense tells us that this is not a good thing. I’m finding as I dig deeper into my deepest feelings and fears through meditation and mindfulness I find that there are some answers there. Continue to search for your answer, I’m sure it is within you, and if you need some guidance in the form of a book I recommend “Radical Acceptance” by Tara Brach. Plus, there are many good blogs on this site. I wish you peace.

Two years ago I went though a divorce. This came a shock to me. I had no idea anything was wrong. Anyways, long story short. I was devastated. I loved her more than anything in this world. For a long time I believed that I was never going to be able to love again. As it turns out through counseling, working on my self-esteem, and practicing some mindfulness I was able to open myself up again. I had been seeing someone I really enjoyed and allowed myself to be vulnerable with. On Saturday she broke things off with me. It hurts, but I know I will feel better and I am happy I was able to open up again. I’m not going to let it prevent me from living my life. Sometimes things just don’t work out the way we had hoped.
