My rule of thumb is if I haven’t worn it, played with it, read it, listened to it, used it in at least a year and I can’t see me wearing it/playing with it/reading it/listening to it any time soon, it’s got to go. I always end up having a spring clean every year (always with the intention of embracing minimalism – I always end up accumulating more things during the next year!) and donating what I don’t use or need to the charity shop. Sometimes I have to force myself to not think about what I am getting rid of – I have to tell myself I don’t even use it anymore and it’s cluttering up the place (I am notorious for being very untidy and disordered!)
Hope this helps
Joe
