The two pretty ex girlfriends are in his past, ex girlfriends, correct? They are in his past even though they are pretty. Maybe he is looking for a woman who is “caring, genuine etc.,” and maybe he does think that being caring, genuine, etc., is beautiful.

Your fear that he leaves you, confront this fear best you can, look at it gently. Where did it originate (… those formative years of childhood?)

This fear can be managed, even healed from. Hope you post again, maybe telling a bit about the origin I mentioned.
