This is the nature of depression: it SEEMS like it is permanent, like it is going to last forever. It seems hopeless. It seems like you are the only one in this much pain. it seems like there is only one way out. So it seemed to me.

I thought for decades that i was unique, like i was a freak of nature, that i was the only one that was screwed up… I found out eventually that I was human in every way, that after all the decades of feeling defected, different than anyone else, that there was nothing wrong with me after all, not any more wrong than any human. What was wrong is that i was hurt and i was hurting.
